The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), an international maritime and aerospace exhibition, was held for five days from May 23 to 27, 2023 in Langkawi, Malaysia. This exhibition was the first to be held since 2019.
LIMA is the largest maritime and aerospace exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region, made possible by the collaboration of the Malaysian Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Transport. The exhibition was held at Mahsuri International Exhibition Center (MIEC) and Resorts World Langkawi (RWL). LIMA is normally held once every two years, but due to the global spread of COVID-19, it has been postponed to 2021. This year's theme was “The Nexus of Asia's Maritime and Aerospace Trade”.
The opening ceremony was held on May 23, 2023 and was attended by Defense Minister YBhg. Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Transport Minister YB. Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution and Kedah Chief Minister YBhg. Dato' Seri Haji. Muhammad Sanusi bin Md Nor also attended the opening ceremony. The exhibition featured a variety of demonstrations in both the defense and commercial sectors, from maritime to aerospace. Indoor and outdoor exhibits and static exhibits were also held, which attracted many visitors. Five countries participated in the aerobatic show: Indonesia, China, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, and Russia. The event aims to strengthen cooperation among defense professionals and enhance the capabilities of Malaysia's defense industry through regional cooperation.
