On July 1, 2025, the new KLIA Aerotrain officially resumed operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Prime Minister Anwar personally attended the reopening ceremony, where the newly introduced Alstom Innovia APM 300R vehicles were unveiled. Many passengers praised the system as “more efficient and comfortable.” With this restart, KLIA further strengthens its position as a major international hub in Southeast Asia.
This major upgrade comes after the Aerotrain system had been suspended for about 2 years and 4 months since March 2023, due to aging infrastructure and safety concerns. During the suspension, shuttle buses provided alternative transport. With the restart, travel between the Main Terminal (MTB) and Satellite Terminal (STB) now takes only about 3 minutes again, greatly improving passenger flow for transfers and immigration.
For those considering real estate investment in Malaysia, this development is also a positive factor. Improved airport accessibility directly promotes international investment and enhances property values, making future prospects worth watching. In addition, the expected increase in tourism and better airport connectivity are likely to contribute to the growth of Malaysia’s overall tourism industry and real estate prices.
